Bring it on under the sun

Biggie round sunglasses, rubber slippers, wedges, tote bags, big hats are you feeling hot hot hot?! Why not bring it on to the beach, let the sun shines to your skin and have fun under the sun.

Summer is the best time to enjoy outdoor activities. There is nothing more enjoyable than spending a relaxing moment with your family, friends, to your partner, colleagues or even to your pets.

Oh yes!  A relaxing moment where you are in control of your time, itineraries with no deadlines and plan activities that do not need approvals on anyone. So you might be asking, what are the activities that you can do on this season?

The activity doesn’t have to be pricey. “The best things in life are for free”.  A simple kite flying would be fun, a picnic in the garden create bonds and a walk in the park can be like a fun run.  You can also do fishing, trekking, bicycling and skateboarding to name a few. But, if you are really looking for an ultimate summer activities and you have the budget, then head on to the beach.

Fine white sand, blue clear water, sunny sky, a cool breeze, green palm trees, cabanas, what a great time to unleash stress!

Go snorkeling on the surface of the water and see the underwater attractions but, if want to stay longer and appreciate more of underwater creatures, then go scuba diving.

Take a glimpse of the whole island, go parasailing. Why not go across the sea, try kayaking or surfing.

If you want a group activity, get thrilled with the banana boat ride. Scream at the top of your lungs and feel good to laugh.

Let’s get physical by playing beach volleyballs and frisbee too.

Rejuvenate yourself with a soothing beach massage while getting tan under the sun.

Speaking of getting tan, the best way to have it without sunburned is to stay only for an hour, always reapply your sunscreen and don’t do sunbathing in the hottest hours.

Drink cooling refreshments like fruity shakes, good for the health and it makes you fit.

Dance the night away with reggae songs and feel the heat of the night with the fire dancers.

Going to the beach means having trendy swimwear. Well of course for ladies it’s a must. Flaunt what you have babe!

For 2011, floral prints, animal prints, tie-dye designs, a wide palette of colors and refreshing designs are out in the market. Mono-colored swimsuits are still in but the most popular will be the two-toned swimsuits.  Don’t wear pale color swimwear for it will make you look big, wear something that will flatter your body! Bear in mind too that dark colors will make you feel hot, wear pastel colors that will make you look and feel cool. Yellow, white, green, light blue, orange and yellow green colors are in for this year.
 (sarong)
Ladies who are a bit shy showing off their body can wear sarongs with colorful patterns, stylish cover-ups or short shorts. Most of these are made of cotton, chiffon and georgette fabrics, that is lightweight, flowy and comfortable to wear.

Match it up by wearing trendy colorful beads, big straw hats, visors and striking nail arts.

Beach nail arts are pleasing to look at. Famous nail art designs are those with palm tree, clouds and sea. In demand colors are yellow, green and blue. For simple design, try painting your nails with different colors like purple, pink, yellow, red, orange, etc.

If you think there is no trendy swimwear for men, then you got it wrong. Those who are not into swim trunks, try the new lightweight short shorts. Board shorts are still in. Both are made of polyester and nylon materials that dry up easily.

What are you waiting for? Leave your worries behind and make the most of Summer time. Bring it on under the sun!

Singapore's IT Show

Oh well! It’s already March and in Singapore it’s time for an IT show once again.
During their IT show all the gadgets are on sale and if it won’t be on sale (like Apple products) atleast they will give you freebies. Most of the participants in the IT show fair are giving out a lot of free items. Take this as an example :  If you will buy a camcorder, you will be getting a GIFT CERTICATE (S$30-S$100), an SD Card, USB, digital photo album, camera stand and a camera bag – that’s six freebies in total! Whoa! Isn’t it great?!  That’s why every year, I will see to it that I have savings which I will use to buy items during IT show.  What’s more they have the event thrice a year. Oh yes! Most of the time, they will have it on the months of March, June and November.  It is usually held at Expo (Take the Green-line Tanah Merah Stn) or Suntec City (City Hall Stn – Red Line) for four days.

What are the items you can buy?
There are a lot of Saleable Items there. Aside from Camcorders, they also have SLRs, Digicams, Television Sets, Software, Laptops, Coolers for laptops, Mobile Phones, Printers, Photocopiers.  Name it, they have it! :D
And don’t worry on how you will carry the items you will purchase. For printers and televisions have strollers. Outside the mall, you will see a lot of taxi cabs.
I think last year was the best IT show I’ve ever attended. My friends and I were able to get a lot of free items and the packages were really, really good.
The telecommunications companies gave a 42-inch television set when you sign-up for home cable. As for my friends, they took the package wherein they signed-up for home broadband with a 13-inch Acer laptop plus a post-paid mobile phone (a lot of phones to choose from) for S$60 (if I’m not mistaken). Just make sure you will bring all the necessary documents needed like your Singapore Identification Card, passport, Bank docs and sometimes your HDB docs or it would be better to ask the telecommunications company first to avoid hassles :D
For Foreign Visitors kindly bring your passport. You are entitled to buy gadgets but of course for post paid packages, you wouldn’t be allowed to purchase. Also, Goods and Services Tax or GST for short, can be refunded in the airport when you buy gadgets in Singapore.

When is the best day, time to go for IT Show?
As for me, I go there on the first day (in the morning or 12nn-3pm) because I usually get brochures first to have an idea of which is the best thing to purchase.
Saturday and Sunday Sale are too crowded because these are the days where people have their off days. Expect long lines in the halls. But these are also the days where most of the companies will give additional promotions to the Sale Items.
Every hour the companies will announce that they will be giving out additional discounts (for example) for the first five people who will buy a 42” Television. From S$2,200 regular price, sale item price will be S$1,800 after additional discount it will be S$1,400.

So what are you waiting for? Check out the IT Show this month from 10 March – 13 March 2011. If you won’t be able to come, there are still upcoming sales this year. And believe me it’s really worth every single penny.
